A Board Certified gastroenterologist with 22 years of private practice experience.  He graduated from University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.  He went on to complete his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of North Carolina.

 

During his years in private practice, he served on the executive committee and then as Medical Director for Raleigh Endoscopy Center, and currently is Managing Partner for Cary Gastroenterology Associates.  He has worked with Yanuvia as a Principal Investigator since 2022.

Melissa Hardesty, MD, MPH

Gynecologic Oncologist

Fellowship trained in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, Dr. Hardesty has been seeing patients in Anchorage, AK since October 2013. She is one of only three board certified Gynecologic Oncologists in Alaska and is a managing partner at Alaska Women’s Cancer Care.

 

In addition to being a full time clinician and one of the busiest and most experienced robotic surgeons in the state, she oversees all clinical trials involving gynecologic cancer that are administered at Providence Alaska Medical Center.

 

Dr. Hardesty has faculty appointments at several local and out-of-state universities where she supervises visiting and local medical students, residents and midlevel trainees.

Asher Kornbluth, M.D.

Asher Kornbluth, received his medical degree from Downstate Medical University in New York and completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine as both resident and Chief Resident at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. He was a Gastroenterology Fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center.

He has been selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for which he was selected as both an Honored Educator and then again as an Honored Clinician. He has been awarded the Solomon Berson Award at Mount Sinai for “Outstanding Physician, Teacher and Role Model”.

As a medical educator, Dr. Kornbluth has taught and lectured extensively in the United States and internationally. He is the Founder and annual Course Co-Director of the Mt. Sinai IBD Consultants Course for the last 19 years. He has received numerous awards as a medical educator, including the Teacher of the Year for six consecutive years at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He also was selected by the graduating medical classes at Mount Sinai for 2 consecutive years to lead them in their recitation of the Maimonides Oath and then as Grand Marshall of their commencement In 2009. In addition, he has been awarded the Outstanding Voluntary Clinical Faculty Award on multiple occasions by the Mount Sinai graduating GI Fellows.

He has been awarded the William H. Dock Lifetime Master Teaching Award from the State University at Downstate Medical Alumni.  He has been recognized over 30 times as chosen by his peers annually among Castle Connolly Top Doctors, New York Best Doctors and Super Doctors featured in the New York Times. As a clinician, in his medical practice, he has mentored hundreds of medical students, residents, fellows and visiting gastroenterologists from throughout the United States as well as visiting physicians from around the world from 5 continents.

Dr. Kornbluth has published more than 100 articles, abstracts, book chapters and invited editorials and is the Principal Author of the first three editions of the “Ulcerative Colitis Practice Guidelines in Adults,” published by the American College of Gastroenterology. He has served on the editorial boards of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has participated in over 25 randomized clinical trials  for new drugs in IBD over the last 30 years, Currently, he is an investigator on a number of clinical trials examining new therapeutic agents in inflammatory bowel disease.

Michael Levin, M.D.

Dr. Levin received his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in public health at the University of North Florida, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Kappa Phi. He gained research experience as the research coordinator for the Division of Urology at University of Florida Shands-Jacksonville. He received his Medical Degree from the internationally renowned Tel Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine, receiving the Hillel Nathan Prize for Academic Excellence in the Course of Anatomy. Dr. Levin then completed a urology residency at Wayne State University, followed by a clinical fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Florida, with a focus in urologic oncology utilizing both open and robotic approaches. He is a partner at Comprehensive Urology in Southeast Michigan.

Jason Levitz, M.D.

Dr. Jason Levitz is a member of Oncology and Hematology Specialists, a private practice in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey.  After graduating from Johns Hopkins University, he completed medical school at Sackler/NYU School of Medicine. His residency training was at North Shore University Hospital while he served as Assistant Chief Resident during his third year and went on to complete his Fellowship at that same institution while serving as Chief Fellow.  There, he was able to study the basics of the genetics of cancer, which brought him into the field initially. Most of his research time was spent investigating monosomy 7 and other genetic abnormalities and how they impact prognosis and treatment options for cancer patients. 


In 2005, he completed his fellowship and joined Oncology and Hematology Specialists. He practices in both the St. Clare’s and Morristown Hospitals where he is an active member of tumor board discussions at both hospitals. The American Cancer Society has honored him with two awards during his career, one of which was for “Doctor’s of Distinction” and the other was as an Honoree for his commitment to cancer research and treatments.  


He has sat on the American Cancer Society Advisory Board for over ten years and continues to be an active participant. He is Board Certified in both Hematology and Oncology and directs the clinical research division of his practice. He is an active member of ASCO and ASH and prides himself on being committed to the compassionate care of his patients.

Shail Maheshwari, M.D.

Shail Maheshwari, MD, grew up in Beaumont, Texas. He attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with his BBA in Management Information Systems with a minor in Biology. He then went on to attend Texas A&M College of Medicine. He completed both his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

He has practiced at the Center for Digestive Disease in The Woodlands/Conroe area north of Houston since 2011.  Areas of interest include preventive medicine and endoscopic ultrasound.

Gregory Mula, M.D.

Dr. Gregory Mula was born in Morgan City, LA and is a graduate of Nicholls State University. He obtained his medical degree at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. His residency was at Louisiana State University and its affiliated hospital, Charity Hospital New Orleans, where he also completed his training with fellowships in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Dr. Mula has over 30 years’ experience in private practice in gastroenterology. He is a partner at Northlake Gastroenterology as well as Northlake Endoscopy. Dr. Mula has served as a managing partner, medical director, and chief of staff in his many roles over the years.

Dr. Mula is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Mula resides in Mandeville, LA with his wife and enjoys life with his children and grandchildren.

Rami Arfoosh, MD. FCCP. FAASM

Dr. Rami Arfoosh graduated from Medical School in 2000. He completed his Internal Medicine and Pulmonary post-graduate training at Chicago Medical School/Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, IL. He also completed Critical Care and Sleep Medicine post-graduate training at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.

 

Dr. Arfoosh initially worked for two years at John D. Dingell VA Medical Center and served as faculty at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI before moving to Georgia in 2010. There, he founded Pulmonary and Sleep Specialists of Northeast Georgia, PC and currently serves as its CEO. He successfully led the group to be one of the fastest growing and most trusted in the State of Georgia.

 

Dr. Arfoosh is a Clinical Associate Professor and instructor for medical students at the Medical College of Georgia and the Georgia Campus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He teaches and mentors students and residents, and has published several abstracts and papers in pulmonary and sleep medicine.

 

His professional interests include management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD), Asthma, Sleep Breathing Disorders, Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Disease, and screening for lung cancer. Dr. Arfoosh serves as the Medical Director of the Respiratory Services for Northeast Georgia Health System and Chair of the lung cancer screening committee and the multidisciplinary Chest Board. He is also a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

 

Dr. Arfoosh has received numerous awards recognizing his professionalism and outstanding patient care. These include “The Professionalism Award” from Chicago Medical School in 2005, the “Mentor of the Year” award from U-Beyond Atlanta in 2019, and the “Faculty Research Mentor” award from Northeast Georgia Medical Center – GME in 2022 for leading medical residents in academic research on post-COVID-19 patients.

 

For several years, Dr. Arfoosh has been actively involved in conducting clinical trials in pulmonary diseases. He has served and continues to serve as principal investigator on several studies, contributing to advancements in the field of pulmonary medicine and lung cancer screening.

Heath Beckham, MD

Dr. Beckham has been a part of Alabama Colon and Rectal Institute in Birmingham, AL since 2009. He did his general surgery residency at the Carolinas Medical Center program in Charlotte, NC from 2003-2008 and his Colon/Rectal surgery fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, LA from 2008-2009. He currently has an interest in all aspects of colon and rectal surgery especially cancer prevention through screening and robotic surgery.
